Vaclovas Augustinas (b. 1959) is a versatile personality successfully working in various musical fields. graduated twice from the Lithuanian Academy of Music in choir conducting in 1981 (under Prof. Hermanas Perelšteinas) and composition in 1992 (under Prof. Julius Juzeliūnas). From 1980 to 1992 Augustinas taught at the Ąžuoliukas music school. Since 1992 he has been chief conductor and artistic director of the Vilnius City Municipal Choir Jauna Muzika. V. Augustinas is a member of Lithuanian Composers' Union, Lithuanian Choral Union and American Choral Directors Association member.
In 1993 as a guest conductor he participated in the Swedish National Convention of Choral Conductors in Växjö. In 1996 he led a workshop in choral conducting at the 16th Jordanas Coralistas Aragonesas festival in Spain. He was Chief Conductor at the world Lithuanian Song Festival in 1998. In 1999 lectured and gave seminars at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Rotterdam, Holand. In 2000 he conducted the joint choir of the Nordic-Baltic Choir Festival. He was guest conductor of Netherlands Radio Choir (2002) and “Markelovy Golosa”, Novosibirsk (2003,2005). From 2006 to 2008 he was guest conductor of Šiauliai Chamber Choir Polifonija. From 2005 to 2008 he was a jury member of different international choir competitions.
Since 1995 V. Augustinas has been closely collaborating with well-known European specialists on choral conducting. Together with choir Jauna Muzika he has organized workshops in Vilnius led by such famous conductors as Frieder Bernius, Werner Pfaff, Anders Eby, Simon Halsey, Hermann Max, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Johannes Prinz, Bo Holten.
Augustinas also is popular as a choir music composer and arranger; various choirs and music publishers eagerly include in their repertoire his modal, repetitive, contemplative or ecstatic compositions that have won awards at various international competitions. His compositions are published by Alliance Music Publication and Laurendale Associates (USA).
Since 1996 V. Augustinas has been a professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Vilnius Pedagogical University. He is also leacturer at the Faculty of Arts of Klaipėda University and at the Vilnius Center of Musical Education. He was also member of rock groups "Saulės laikrodis" and "Antis" (keyboards, vocal); after the reunion of "Antis" in 2007, he continues to compose songs and perform with them.
In 2010 V. Augustinas was awarded with the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize for the development of choral powers and the modernity of sacral music.
Egidijus Kaveckas (b. 1986) graduated from Klaipeda Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire, where he gained choir conductor diploma (lect. Audronė Purlienė). 2005-2011 he studied choir conducting in the Lithuania Academy of Music and Theatre (prof. Česlovas Radžiūnas). Now (from 2012) he is taking doctor's degree. Both as a performer and choir conductor he actively participates in academic concerts and music projects. Since 2005 he sings and is a choirmaster (from 2009) in the Vilnius City Municipal Choir Jauna Muzika. In 2006 he founded a vocal ensemble Balsai and is actively participating in different concerts.
In 2007 attended XIII choir music interpretation courses led by professor Werner Pfaff (Germany). In 2008 he attended courses led by professor Erwin Ortner from Vienna Music Academy. In 2011 attended XV hoir music interpretation courses led by professor Georg Grün (Germany). In 2009 E. Kaveckas won 1st prize at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Young Conductors Contest in Vilnius.
