Yra graži tradicija antrąją Kalėdų dieną susitikti Šv. Kotrynos bažnyčioje ir šventinį laiką pratęsti muzika. Gruodžio 26-ąją choras JAUNA MUZIKA vėl kviečia į du kalėdinius koncertus, kuriuose šiemet ypatingas vaidmuo teks arfai. Kartu su choru pasirodys arfininkė Liucilė Vilimaitė, o programa DEO GRACIAS sujungs kalėdinių giesmių tradiciją, šiuolaikinę chorinę muziką ir subtilų arfos skambesį.
Vienas svarbiausių programos akcentų – Benjamino Britteno „A Ceremony of Carols“.
Greta Britteno muzikos skambės amerikiečių kompozitoriaus Stepheno Pauluso „Jesu Carols“, belgų kompozitoriaus Kurto Bikkembergso „Songs About Love“ ir Johno Cage’o „In a Landscape“ arfai.

There is a cherished tradition of gathering at St. Catherine’s Church on the second day of Christmas to extend the festive season through music. On December 26, JAUNA MUZIKA Choir once again invites audiences to two Christmas concerts, with the harp taking a special place in this year’s programme. Joining the choir will be Lithuanian harpist Liucilė Vilimaitė. Entitled DEO GRACIAS, the programme brings together traditional Christmas carols, contemporary choral music and the delicate sound of the harp.
One of the highlights of the programme is Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. In this work, choral voices and harp come together in a colourful musical narrative, moving between gentle, lyrical melodies and lively, rhythmic passages. The concert will feature selected movements from the cycle, including the jubilant Deo gracias, which gives the entire Christmas programme its name.
Alongside Britten’s music, the programme features Jesu Carols by American composer Stephen Paulus, Songs About Love by Belgian composer Kurt Bikkembergs, and John Cage’s In a Landscape for solo harp. These contrasting works explore a wide range of musical moods, from festive joy and energy to tenderness, reflection and tranquillity. The harp will be heard not only accompanying the choir, but also as a solo instrument in its own right.
On the second day of Christmas, as the festive bustle gradually settles, we invite you to return to a place where music and its listeners meet year after year. Come and enjoy the sound of choral voices, the beauty of the harp and those precious moments of togetherness that make Christmas so special.
Let’s celebrate Christmas together!
